UMI with its characteristics as an educational and da'wah institution carries broader and heavier duties and responsibilities than just producing graduates, because the educational process at UMI provides knowledge and skills according to the disciplines involved, as well as providing added value to their students, through development aqidah, Islamic ethics and enlightenment of the heart, as the foundation in navigating the future. Academic activities at UMI have implemented quality assurance standards, according to the standards set by the Government, God willing, UMI will give birth to "UMI" (Excellent, Quality and Islamic) human resources.

Preparatory Education Institution (LPP)

The Preparatory Education Institution (LPP) of the UMI Waqf Foundation was established in March 1973, this institution coordinates secondary schools which are directly fostered by the UMI Waqf Foundation. The idea of establishing LPP is intended to maintain the continuity of prospective students who will enter the Indonesian Muslim University (UMI) Makassar. The first secondary school to open was the Senior High School (SMA) and began accepting students in 1973/1974. In the 1975/1976 school year, the Junior High School (SMP) was opened again.

Responding to the wishes of the public who tend to choose schools with clear competence (vocational), so that in 1995/1996 LPP re-opened two vocational schools, namely the High School of Engineering (STM) with the Department of Automotive, Electrical, Electrical and Building and the High School of Economics (SMEA). with the Department of Office Administration and Finance.

Educational Institutions (Pesantren) Outside Makassar City

A. Pesantren "Wihdatul Ulum" Borisallo Kab. Gowa.

Pesantren "Wihdatul Ulum" Borisallo Village, Parangloe District, Gowa Regency, is one of the boarding schools under the auspices of the UMI Makassar Waqf Foundation, founded on December 7, 1990.

The idea of establishing this pesantren was pioneered by community leaders and the local government, then it was entrusted to the Indonesian Muslim University, because at that time Borisallo Village had been used as a fostered village for the Indonesian Muslim University. Even though in 1990 this pesantren was built, which UMI named Pesantren "Silaturahmi UMI", while community leaders named Pesantren Nurul Islam Wal Iman. After there was an agreement between UMI and community leaders, it was agreed that the name of the Pesantren was "Wihdatul Umum".

The "Wihdatul Ulum" Islamic Boarding School fosters:

  1. Masrasah Tsanawiyah (SLTP),
  2. Madrasah Aliah (SLTA).

The facilities currently owned by Pesantren "Mizanul Ulum" are classrooms, library, multi-purpose room, santri room (dormitory) and mosque.

B. Mizanul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Sanrobone Kab. Takalar

The "Mizanul Ulum" Islamic boarding school in Sanrobone Village, Mappakasunggu District, Takalar Regency, was established and fostered by the Makassar UMI Waqf Foundation on July 27, 1993. The presence of this pesantren is a tangible manifestation of the UMI Waqf Foundation's concern in educating the nation's life, especially the community around the pesantren, as well as implementation of the existence of Sanrobone Village as a village guided by the UMI Waqf foundation.

Pesantren "Mizanul Ulum" fosters:

C. Darul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School

This Islamic boarding school is located outside Makassar City, 66 km north of Makassar City, namely Padanglampe Village, Kab. Pangkep. This Islamic boarding school is specialized as a place for fostering students and the general public in character or spiritual education.

Coaching is carried out by lodging them for 30 days (students) and 3 days (general public) in Islamic boarding schools, with the hope of increasing their basic Islamic knowledge, growing awareness of morality and the formation of Islamic mindsets.

The coaching carried out includes three educational paradigms, namely, intellectual intelligence, moral and spiritual intelligence and life intelligence (life and solf skills) combined in a comprehensive and synergistic coaching pattern. Intellectual intelligence (IQ) is given through formal education, while moral and spiritual intelligence as well as life intelligence, the development is carried out in Islamic boarding schools with the main practicum of worship as a spiritual reflection and formation of akhlaqul karimah.

All activities carried out as a form of devotion to God always begin and end with reading prayers such as in the teaching and learning process, eating and sleeping, as well as various other activities.

This Islamic boarding school stands on an area of 193,860 M2 with the following facilities and infrastructure:
